Experiences shared

In families' own words

These are the kinds of things families have shared with us after their sessions. We are grateful for every one of them.

NP

Nattaporn Phromchai

Parent, Mueang district

"We had been going around in circles with the same conversation for months. I was not sure a session like this would help, but we left with a clearer understanding of what each person actually needed to say. The facilitator was completely even-handed — I felt heard and so did my husband."

Somchai Rattanaphon

Father of three, Khon Kaen

"The seminar was honestly useful in a way I did not expect. Most of us feel we already know how to communicate with our families — but sitting down and actually looking at the patterns was quite eye-opening. The printed materials came home with me and I have referred back to them several times since."

Wiparat Janthawee

Couple, Khon Kaen city

"We did the Ongoing Support Plan and I am glad we committed to something longer. The first session felt tentative, but by the third or fourth we were talking about things we had avoided for years. Nanthicha kept us informed throughout, and the community group was a quiet but welcome addition."

Pranee Kittirat

Extended family group, Ban Phai

"There were five of us from different parts of the family, and I was not confident we would manage to sit together without it becoming tense. It did not. Siriporn moved things along without taking over, and nobody felt cornered. The written notes afterwards were something we all left with — which helped."

Thitiporn Worasakul

Mother, Khon Kaen

"I went to the seminar on my own, without my family. I wanted to understand the ideas first before suggesting we do anything together. Prawit explained things clearly and without pressure. I came away with a couple of simple things I have already tried at home — small, but noticeable."

Anan Suksawat

Retired, Mueang Khon Kaen

"My children organised the Support Plan for our family and I was not sure I would find it useful at my age. I was wrong about that. Having documents and timelines arranged neatly — things I had let accumulate for years — was genuinely a relief. And being able to ask questions between sessions was something I used more than I expected."

In more depth

A closer look at a few family journeys

These accounts are shared with permission and have been lightly summarised to protect privacy.

Open Conversation Session

The situation

A couple in their late thirties had been navigating a disagreement about how to share childcare responsibilities as both returned to full-time work. Each felt the other was not listening. Conversations at home had stopped feeling productive.

The session

They attended a single Open Conversation Session with Siriporn. The format gave each person a clear opportunity to speak without being interrupted. The facilitator reflected back what was said without interpreting it.

What followed

Both participants described the written session notes as useful. They did not require further sessions. They said the single session was enough to help them identify a more practical way to approach the same conversations at home.

"We did not need someone to fix things for us. We just needed to be in the same room with someone calm enough to make us both slow down."

Ongoing Family Support Plan

The situation

An adult sibling group of four — all based in different parts of Khon Kaen province — had shared responsibility for an elderly parent. Documents, schedules, and informal agreements had become difficult to track across multiple people.

The programme

The family enrolled in the Ongoing Support Plan over seven weeks. Early sessions focused on getting each person's perspective clearly heard. Later sessions, combined with the document organisation support, helped them build a shared record they could all access.

What followed

The siblings described the community group as unexpectedly helpful — hearing other families in similar situations was reassuring. By the end of the programme, they had an orderly shared document structure and clearer, calmer conversations between them.

"The hardest part was getting everyone to agree to try it. Once we were in the room, it was actually fine — and the document work turned something chaotic into something manageable."
